The 22 rivers in the quiz

The longest is the Volga (3,530 km / 2,193 mi), followed by the Danube (2,850 km / 1,771 mi) and the Dnieper (2,285 km / 1,420 mi). The shortest in the quiz is the Thames, at 334 km / 208 mi. Lengths come from Wikidata, and they vary between sources.

22 flow into the sea: the Rhine, Elbe and Thames into the North Sea; the Rhône and Ebro into the Mediterranean Sea; the Tagus and Douro into the Atlantic Ocean; the Guadiana and Guadalquivir into the Gulf of Cádiz…. The rest are tributaries of other rivers on the map.

Playing in class

Point mode is the place to start; Type mode marks a river on the map for you to name (accents and small typos are forgiven), and Timed mode gives 6 seconds per question. With Challenge your class, everyone gets the same questions in the same order, no accounts needed.

To practice on paper, the matching blank map prints blank, numbered or labeled.
