ZIP codes in a radius
Pick a point and a radius to get every ZIP code inside, with its city, county and population, on the map and in a list you can open in Excel.
By the All Map Tools Team
Counts the ZIP codes whose interior point (a point the Census Bureau places inside each ZIP area) is within the radius. The distance is to that point.

What’s inside this radius?
Open the same circle in another tool, no need to search again.
How to use it
Search for an address or a town, use your location or tap the map to set the center, then choose the radius with the slider, by typing a number or with the quick values. The list is sorted from nearest to farthest; tap a column header to sort by population or by ZIP, and tap a ZIP to see it on the map.
The map shows each ZIP code’s area, and you can add county boundaries. If the circle spans several states, turn off the ones you don’t need. “Copy the codes” gives you the list with commas or one per line, and Download CSV the ZIP, city, county, state, population, land area, distance and coordinates, ready for Excel or a CRM. The link keeps the center, the radius and your options, so whoever opens it sees exactly the same list.
10 miles around Times Square
There are 199 ZIP codes with their center within 10 miles of Times Square, home to 7,645,445 people. The closest ones are 10020 (New York), 10110 (New York) and 10036 (New York).
24 of them have no residents at all: they’re ZIP codes for office towers, government buildings or an airport (11371 is LaGuardia’s). Sort by population if you only want residential areas.
With “Center inside”, a ZIP code counts when its interior point (a point the Census Bureau places inside each ZIP area) is within the radius, so a large rural ZIP whose edge crosses the circle won’t show up. With “Any part inside” we ask the Census Bureau’s map service (TIGERweb) which areas the circle touches, and the Inside column tells you how much of each one falls in it.
ZIP codes and ZCTAs
The Postal Service doesn’t publish ZIP code boundaries: ZIP codes are mail routes, not areas. The Census Bureau builds ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) from census blocks to match them as closely as possible, and publishes their population. That’s what this tool uses.
There are 33,642 ZCTAs in the 50 states and DC. Many ZIP codes used only for PO boxes, a single building or a large company have no ZCTA. Tick “Add ZIP codes with no area” to list them too, as approximate points from GeoNames (usually the center of their town), with no population.
Where the data comes from
ZIP areas, interior points and land area come from the Census Bureau’s 2025 Gazetteer Files; population, from the American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates; and the city and county of each ZIP, from the 2020 ZCTA relationship files (the place and county that share the most land with it). Distances are straight-line distances on the WGS84 ellipsoid.

Frequently asked questions
How many ZIP codes can I get?
All the ones inside, up to a 500-mile radius. The page shows the 500 closest; the CSV has every one of them.
Is the distance a straight line or a driving distance?
A straight line, from the center of the circle to the interior point of each ZIP code. Driving distances are always a bit longer.
Why is a ZIP code I know missing?
Because it has no ZCTA: ZIP codes for PO boxes, single buildings or large organizations often aren’t areas, so the Census Bureau doesn’t map them. Tick “Add ZIP codes with no area” to include them as approximate points.
Does a ZIP code count if the circle only clips it?
Not with “Center inside”. With “Any part inside” it does, and the list shows how much of its area is inside the circle.
Why do some ZIP codes show zero people?
Some ZIP codes for office buildings, airports or government agencies do get a Census area, but nobody lives in it.
How old is the population data?
It’s the American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimate, the most recent the Census Bureau publishes for every ZIP code area.
Does it work in Spain?
For Spain there’s Postal codes in a radius, with one point per code from the INE street list (the boundaries belong to Correos and can’t be downloaded), and Municipalities in a radius, with INE codes and official population.
