Countries by continent
The map has 194 countries: the 193 UN members plus Vatican City. Other land (Greenland, Western Sahara, Taiwan and overseas territories) is drawn but not numbered or labeled. Antarctica is left out because it belongs to no country.
Russia is the largest country (6,612,070 sq mi) and Vatican City the smallest. Maldives, Mauritius, and Seychelles, islands in the Indian Ocean, aren’t counted under any continent in the table.
| Continent | Countries | Largest | Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| Africa | 52 | Algeria | 919,595 sq mi |
| Asia | 46 | People's Republic of China | 3,692,259 sq mi |
| Europe | 44 | Russia | 6,612,070 sq mi |
| North and Central America | 23 | Canada | about 3.8 million sq mi |
| South America | 12 | Brazil | 3,285,890 sq mi |
| Oceania | 14 | Australia | 2,988,901 sq mi |
Which version to choose
The whole world leaves little room on one sheet: in the numbered and labeled versions, only countries where a number or name is readable when printed on A4 get one, and the rest stay blank. On A3 everything is bigger. To study one continent up close, use the blank map of Europe.
